Meet Dr. George

Matthew D. George, D.D.S. is a native of Lake Charles and boasts an illustrious academic and professional career as a local leading expert in dentistry. He graduated from the LSU School of Dentistry in 2014 and was named the Most Promising General Dentist of his class. During his studies, he was awarded a scholarship for continuing education in advanced dental education at The Pankey Institute. Dr. George has remained dedicated to continuing education, having completed courses in oral sedation, adhesive dentistry, implant dentistry, periodontics, systemic health, digital treatment planning and photography.

In addition to his distinguished academic education, professional mentorships have played an integral role in Dr. George’s dental career and advancement. As an undergraduate, Dr. George had the privilege of working for and learning from Dr. John Barksdale at his dental practice in Baton Rouge, LA. He continued to work at Barksdale Dentistry during term breaks throughout dental school, and began his career as a dentist practicing alongside his mentor from 2014-2015. In 2015, Dr. George returned to his hometown of Lake Charles, LA, and joined Dr. Dennis Donald as part of his established dental practice. Dr. Donald’s legacy of exceptional dentistry and unmatched patient care is a guiding principle of George Family Dentistry today.

Dr. George is affiliated with various professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. In 2017-2018, Dr. George held the position of Secretary/Treasurer in the Southwest District Dental Association – a division of the Louisiana Dental Association. He subsequently served as Vice President the following year, rounding out his tenure as President in 2019-2020. Dr. George is the current President of the Calcasieu Parish Dental Society, a position which he has proudly held since 2022. He previously served as president of the Calcasieu Parish Dental Society from 2016-2018 as well. Dr. George is also a Board Member of the Louisiana Academy of Dental Education.

His roles in respected professional dental associations, combined with his relentless pursuit of education, showcase Dr. George’s commitment to the industry and his unwavering dedication to delivering top-tier patient care.

Outside of his official duties, Dr. George enjoys hobbies such as hunting, fishing, and keeping up with LSU Athletics. As a father of three, Dr. George is actively involved in several local youth sports leagues, volunteering his time to coach baseball, basketball, and football. He and his wife Caitlin, along with their three children—Benjamin, Eleanor, and Dawson—are active members of the Lake Charles community and their church.
